Alix and Samuel are staying at our house this weekend, and since there was no school today (Friday) we thought we would call Grandmaman and Grandpapa to see what they were up to. We waited until 10:00 to call, as I knew they had had a busy day yesterday babysitting Jacques and then Calla in the evening. Alix asked Grandmaman if we could come by for a bit, and of course she said we could come anytime.
After the boys gathered together their new snorkelling gear and I got Ava ready we headed out the door around 11:00. Grandmaman and Grandpapa were just finishing off their pancakes when we arrived, so it was good timing. Alix and Sam meandered into the living room and found the Tinker Toys, so they started building. Ava and I stayed in the dining room and I had a cup of coffee with Grandmaman and Grandpapa while Ava played with some rattles, dominoes and one of the little baby doll that has taken up residence on Fort Street.
Just before 1300 we got ready and all went for a swim! It was a nice treat that Grandmaman came into the water with us, too. After about an hour, we were all pretty hungry for lunch so we headed back up. The boys devoured the chicken pot pies and Ava ate some pear and had a multigrain cracker. After lunch the boys went off and played again while Ava had a brief nap. Unfortunately, Grandpapa was looking for something in his room while Ava was sleeping and she woke up! Nonetheless, she was in a good mood after a quick shot of milk and was right back to more playing with all of the neat toys at Grandmaman's.
Grandmaman and Grandpapa were heading to a concert tonight at the Centre Culturel Franco Manitobain (CCFM), but they wanted to know if we wanted to go for a pizza dinner tonight with them beforehand. I called Marc to see where he was, and fortunately he was on his way home. We decided to swing home and pick him up before heading to the restaurant (Santa Lucia's) so that we would only have one car there. Supper was yummy as usual - Santa Lucia has awesome pizza and is a family favourite! Although she ate well, Ava had just about had it by the end of the supper. She was tired and wanting her bed! She cried all the way home (only a five-minute drive) and then was unhappy while putting her PJs on. She nursed great, and was in bed and asleep just after 1900.
Marc decided to take the boys out to a Manitoba Moose game tonight as a surprise. With all of the busy-ness surrounding the care of Ava, Marc has not really had much opportunity to spend quality time with just Alix and Sam. I hope they have fun at the game tonight, and that the Moose win!!
