Ava and I had a quiet day at home today. She woke up at around 6:45, and after a feeding she was ready to play downstairs. After she ate breakfast around 9, I gave one of my friend's from work a call. I knew she would be on shift this morning and that the clients would all still be asleep so she would have some time to chat. It was nice to catch up and hear how she was doing and to tell her about what we've been up to.
After talking for almost an hour (very rare, these days!) Ava was ready for a nap. She slept from 10:00 to 11:30! I also took a snooze instead of doing some much-needed cleaning...but it felt so nice to doze! After a lunch of pancakes, we continued playing downstairs on the playmat. Earl also wanted to play! He would bring his new bird toy over to Ava and drop it either in her lap or very close to her. He wanted Ava to throw his bird for him to fetch! Unfortunately, Ava's throwing arm is not quite developed just yet, so I obligingly threw the bird a few times for him.
After a brief nap this afternoon, Ava ate dinner and took a bath. It was quite the chore doing it by myself but it's getting easier as she can sit up a lot more on her own, even in the tub. I then got her ready for bed and she fell asleep with virtually no fuss. I am relieved that she is getting back into the habit of falling asleep on her own without crying again.
Joelle came by to quickly pick up her parents' keys as she was picking them up from the airport tonight. Jacques was in the car, so I gave him a wave. I'm glad that they are home as we missed seeing them! 10 days is a long time for grandparents to be away! Maybe we can get a quick visit in tomorrow or the day after.
Tomorrow Calla is scheduled for her surgery. Hopefully it actually happens tomorrow as it has been cancelled three times now. I hope all goes well for her and that she heals quickly.
