Sorry for the delay in posting some news - it seems that with all of the activities over Christmas, I didn't have much of an opportunity to blog! We have had a nice, full house this past week with the boys staying with us. We have very much enjoyed their company and we are glad that they got to spend the holidays with us.
On Christmas Eve, my dad (Ava's Opa) came by and stayed for our humble supper of home-made macaroni and cheese and vegetables with some ice cream and bananas for dessert. We exchanged our gifts with him and then proceeded to help him eat the chocolates we gave him for Christmas! Thanks, Opa! After having a nice visit, Opa went home and we went to bed, anticipating an early morning with the boys and Ava. Fortunately for us, Ava decided to bestow her best gift on us and slept in until almost seven! When we came downstairs just before 8:00, the boys were still in bed! I guess they were still tired from their short night of sleep while we stayed in a hotel the night before as their "big" Christmas gift.
Anyway, the boys woke up just before 9:00 finally, and Alix had to actually go get Sam out of bed so we could open our gifts! The boys got Ava an ornament and a very soft and squishy teddy bear which she really likes. We also received ornaments from the boys (a Bombers one for Papa and gold lame Elvis for me) and a framed picture of the two of them. Ava got some new toys, books and outfits from her Maman and Papa as well as an HBC gift card from Opa.
Christmas Day continued getting off to a great start as we headed off to Joelle, Kevin and Jacques' for breakfast. Joelle said it was nothing fancy but I think we need to buy her a dictionary for Christmas because it was beyond wonderful! There was bacon/potatoe/cheese casserole type thing (very yummy!), apple cake pie, breakfast pie, cinnamon roll cake, fruit and sausages, of course! There was also two types of juices of coffee. After a great time of visiting with Kevin's sister and soon to be brother-in-law and Noni (Kevin's mom, Nancy) and her dog Willis, Ava was demonstrating signs of needing a nap. She fell asleep in her car seat before we even left their house! I left her in her seat when we got home and she proceeded to sleep for two hours! I even got a nap in!
After waking up and having a quick feed, we got all the gifts together and the juice and salad we were bringing with us to Marc's parents' house, we headed off again. We were the first to arrive with the Morgans close behind. After everyone arrived, we opened all of the gifts! It was a lot of fun to watch everyone open their brightly coloured packages. Ava received so many beautiful and fun gifts, along with the boys. Marc and I were also spoiled with gifts from our family!
After gifts, we enjoyed a yummy Christmas dinner and dainties for dessert. Then the Wii tournament continued! We also were able to play some of Jacques' games and Ava played with her new turtle from tante Lisette and Todd and read her new book from tante Joelle, oncle Kevin and Jacques. Very soon after supper, Ava took a bath and got settled for bed. We decided to put her down so that we could stay a bit later, but that was short-lived because Calla fell off the couch and bumped her head on Ava's new sleigh! Poor Calla! Her cries woke up Ava, and she was hard to settle back down so we headed for home just before 2200.
After a bit of a restless night, Ava woke up with a raging fever this morning (39.1 degrees Celcius). We dosed her up and her fever has broken, but is still not in the most wonderful mood. I think we will be laying low today, and enjoy our Christmas gifts in leisure!
