Today we met up with Grandmaman, tante Michelle and Calla, tante Joelle and Jacques at the Children's Museum. After spending about 10 or 15 minutes in the Eaton's Santa Village section, we headed back down to the play areas, much to the enjoyment of Jacques and Calla. Unfortunately, Ava is still too small for the majority of the activities at the museum but we had fun looking at all of the neat things and watching her older cousins zipping about.
After we were done at the museum, we walked over to the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch. We were fortunate enough to have the "Grotto" room, a table that was in a niche all by itself. Ava did pretty well eating little bits of my lunch but I think she was more interested in playing with the placemat and spoons. After lunch was over, it was obvious that Ava needed some down time. She had been on the go pretty much all day by this point and was tired of being in and out of her car seat and winter apparel. As soon as she was in her car seat for the short ride home, she fell asleep.
Back at home and after a feed and much-needed diaper change (although not as bad as Matthew, evidently!) she proceeded to play on her playmat until 1600. She was rubbing her eyes pretty frequently by this point so I decided that she needed a nap even though it was fairly close to her early evening bedtime of 1900. She fell asleep quite quickly but stayed that way for only about half an hour or so. Once she woke up she was even grumpier than before the nap! She did not want to be put down even on her playmat with me right beside her. I decided we might have an early supper and get ready for bed a little earlier than usual. The funny thing was that after she ate supper, she was in a much better mood!
After such a busy day, Ava settled quickly for bed just before 1900. I hope that she stays asleep without waking as she did this morning. Tomorrow we are planning on going to the Mother Goose drop-in program at Archwood to break up the afternoon a bit as Marc is gone at work all day again. We sure miss Papa when he's gone!
