After a bit of a trying night with Ava being awake for about two and a half hours, Marc got up with her at seven this morning to let me sleep in a bit. I was sleeping lightly though, because I knew Marc would be receiving a call from the City of Winnipeg regarding his recent interview for promotion. The phone rang at 9:15 and I decided to get out of bed to see what was happening.
When I got downstairs I was greeted by Ava, who was standing next to Marc and holding on to the love seat for support. It was so cute! I quickly asked Marc who phoned, but it was only Canadian Diabetes asking if we had anything to donate. We continued to sit around for a bit and just veg when Marc's co-worker and our friend Russ called. He also applied for the same positions Marc did and was also waiting to hear the verdict. He said that he just received a call from another mutual friend who told him that he had heard that both he and Marc were successful in the competition. We weren't sure what to say to that, except that we were still waiting for an official yea or nay. Marc and Russ continued chatting for a few more minutes, and hung up. Not more than 10 or 15 minutes later, Russ called back. I answered the phone, and Russ said that he didn't get the job, he just got the call. Oh no! I didn't even know what to say! I handed the phone to Marc and just sat speechless. I was assuming Marc's fate was similar.
When their call was finished, Marc checked his cell phone, he realized that the HR person who had helped interview him had called at nine. It was now ten o'clock. He called her back, and received the wonderful news that he was successful, and had received the Medical Supervisor position, two of the four he really wanted! Now came the hard part. Marc had to call Russ back and let him know. Of course, Russ was congratulatory and happy for him, but we still felt awful for Russ. It is very hard to be happy when your good friend can't truly share in your excitement.
The rest of the morning and early afternoon involved running some errands, and we picked up lunch to celebrate. One of the errands involved heading over to Joelle and Kevin's to drop off some clothes for Mikka and I even got a peanut buttery kiss from Jacques! Truly a highlight!
Tomorrow we have Mitey Signs again and Marc is at a course all day. Wednesday I'm planning on taking Ava over to visit with Jacques and Mikka for a bit, as we have been staying away due to her not feeling 100%. Fortunately she is acting pretty normal but is much grumpier than usual. I'm hoping it's due to the broken sleeps from the past couple of nights. Let's hope for a solid sleep tonight, for both Ava and Mommy!! ; )
Congratualtions again, Marc! We are so proud of you! Love, Ava and Angel
