Grumpy, Cranky, Whiny Day

The past two weeks have been pretty stressful around our house for various reasons. Ava has been struggling with a flu, cold, and stomache bug which she seems to be starting to kick (thankfully!) and Marc has been in the midst of courses and interviews and therefore has not been able to be home as much as I would have liked!

Last night was no exception in terms of Ava being not 100%. She woke up about twenty minutes after she went to bed and after a very brief consolation she went right back to sleep. She awoke again at 23:30 and seemed to be pretty gassy but settled back down fairly quickly. I went to bed and was woken up by crying at 4:00. Ugh, was all I could think. Of course the diaper was full, so after a change (which was accompanied by screaming) and a quick feeding, Ava went back to bed just before 4:30. I also went to bed and felt like I had not slept at all when I was woken up again at 7:00. I was so tired still and to tell the truth, I was a little grumpy.

We went downstairs to play. In the past week, Ava has begun crawling around and today was no exception. She crawled all over her play mat was fairly happy doing so. At breakfast time she ate much better than she has been in the past few days, which made me very happy! Then things kind of went downhill. Ava was refusing to take a nap even though she was tired out and after half an hour of trying to get her to sleep, I gave up and we had a snack. She continued being quite cranky and I was getting more and more frustrated. I was hoping Marc would get up soon and take over for me! Anyway, I did end up getting an hour break as Marc stayed with Ava while I took a quick snooze which did make me feel better.

My Dad came by for a brief visit just after 1400, and Ava cried the entire time. Big, huge tears rolled down her cheeks and combined with her cold-induced runny nose, was not a happy camper. After Opa left, Ava got a dose of Tylenol and gripe water in hopes of solving any gastrointestinal problems if they existed. The plus side to the day is that she only had three poopy diapers all day, and she ate most of her food when it was offered to her, and she was happy in the bath after supper although all she wanted to do was stand up.

Fortunately for me Ava went to bed without any problems (which is not unusual) and I am really hoping and praying that she will stay asleep all night tonight. It is very tiring to get up several times during the night and then not sleep all day! I am hoping that the stomache bug that she has had is pretty much gone, as well, and that tomorrow is a long nap day!! I am glad today is over, and am looking forward to a less frustrating day tomorrow.
