Interesting Offer

I am returning to work very soon, and I just recently had to submit my vacation requests for the upcoming year as well as some other work-related items. Just yesterday my new supervisor for my new position that I'll be starting in April phoned and talked to Marc as I was sleeping in. Marc came up and told me that I was going back to Compass (my old postion) for a while. I thought he was pulling my leg!!

I went down and called my supervisor, Gerry, and he let me know that my former position had been taken by a new person for the permanent position and that the person I had trained for the term had not been successful and would not be there after April 20th. The reason I would be going back to Compass would be to train the new Learning Coordinator.

I was a little surprised to hear this news, and my initial thought was that the temporary LC did not apply as I knew he was interested in working in a traditional school setting. I called my former supervisor, Sherrie, and left a message with her so that we could talk further regarding this situation.

Today I heard back from her and basically she and the Clinical Supervisor have decided that the ultimate situation would be for me to come in at least two days during the new person's first week to go over how the program runs. I was given a huge compliment in that she told me that I ran the Learning Program the way she likes to see it operated, and that she would like me to bestow that "knowledge" (if that's the right word) onto the new incumbent. After we talked logistics for a while and me offering up some ideas and suggestions, we agreed to talk next week and try to firm up plans for April.

I am very humbled by the fact that my former workplace thinks enough of my abilities to have me back to train, especially after being in a brain fog for a year!! :> I am looking forward to going back to work, but it will be extremely hard to drop Ava off for an ENTIRE DAY and not be able to pop in and give her a hug or kiss, or rock her to sleep for her nap, watch her eat her Cheerios and strawberries. I wish my office building had a daycare in it, so that I could go and see her every now and again! Wishful thinking, right?!

Ava is having a bit of a grumpy few days. I'm guessing she is cutting some teeth, because she is constantly sticking her fingers in her mouth and is much more whiny than normal. I hope that she either cuts them quickly, or they stop bothering her before too long!! The next month is very precious for me, as it is the last time for a long, long time that I will be able to spend so much time with Ava on a daily basis. As I said, I'm looking forward to work, but that doesn't mean I'm looking forward to not being with my Ava!

In closing, I just found out that our friends Bryan and Denise are expecting their second child in late September! I think they are a little crazy because their daughter is only 14 months old, but to each their own I guess! ;> I guess they may as well just keep not sleeping at night while they're young!
