Fun and Games with Cousins

After lunch today we headed over to Grandmaman and Grandpapa's to spend some time with them and Joelle, Jacques and Mikka as we had not seen very many people due to the nasty colds that have been circulating. I don't know about everyone else, but I had so much fun this afternoon that I was laughing so hard I was crying twice!

When we got there, Mikka was eating and Jacques and Grandmaman were heading out to go see Grandpapa working in the wood shop and to get his usual treat (a Kinder surprise egg) from the little store. I fed Ava her lunch which also allowed Mikka to finish his! After the babies were done eating, Ava enjoyed checking out Mikka. She went right up to tante Joelle and was patting her leg, mimicking Joelle burpring Mikka! Soon, Jacques was back from his little errands and got right into playing with Ava. I also had the (rare) opportunity to cuddle my little Mikka! I say rare because Ava is usually keeping me busy, but Grandmaman helped me out in that department and I snuggled him for a good 20-30 minutes! Jacques would come over and remind me that Mikka was "their baby," just in case I would forget!

After the snuggles were over, I also had the opportunity to play a lot with Jacques, which hasn't happened as much as I would like in the past few months due to Ava requiring a lot of attention. Now that she is able to play more independently and is mobile, along with the fact that she had a captive audience in Grandmaman, I was able to shower some much over-due attention on my rambunctious, funny, and smart nephew! He is so hilarious!! At one point he made a comment about Ava having her soother. He said that he didn't have a soother anymore. I agreed, and told him it was because he was a "grand garcon" (a big boy), and he said, "yeah, because I have my cuisine." I just started laughing, because when he gave up his soother a couple of months before Mikka was born, Kevin decided that he deserved a 'big boy' reward, and he got a play kitchen. I love how he speaks Frenglish to me, it's doubly funny that way!

Uncle Kevin soon arrived after work (Joelle went to pick him up) and then he and Jacques went swimming before supper. When they got back, I told Jacques we could put his bathing suit outside and 'freeze dry' them. He said ok, and got changed. Then I put his suit on the balcony. After supper, Joelle went and got them and sure enough, they were stiff little shorts!! Jacques wanted to know where the water went, though!

It was definitely a wonderful day to play and share, and I look forward to more days soon, before I'm back to the grind on a regular basis!!

Gotta love the "Frenglish"! One family I was looking after with a maman Francais and English Papa had a little girl who spoke it almost exclusively to me. It was quite hilarious. She would often say, "Je peut, this or that." The one that most often threw me for a loop is when she asked me for a "paille" which I heard as pie. Now why in the world would you need pie with you milk I wondered? Of course she meant straw. Too funny what they come out with.

That's funny, Monique, as "paille" is the word that tripped Kevin up when he first knew Alix and Sammy! ;)

We had a wonderful time, too, Angel. As always, when with you, there are always loads of laughs! :) I hope, as well, that we can take advantage of the last few weeks of your leave to have fun time together with the kids!
