New Routines and Baby Steps

Ava has been going to Denise's for just over a week now, and while she still cries when I have to leave, she is reaching out to Denise to take her, smiling at the other kids when she sees them, and is much less disgruntled when I walk out the door. She naps well for Denise, and eats and drinks with no problems. Denise even said yesterday that she is mixing in with the little kids really well, which made me feel pretty happy.

Today when we got home, Ava played for a bit on her own, leaving me some time to get dinner organized (which was in the crock pot) and clean the dishes that had accumulated during the day. We ate supper a bit earlier than normal as she didn't have her afternoon snack due to a late nap at Denise's and then continued to play downstairs until Alix and Sam were dropped off.

Ava really enjoys having her big brothers around, pointing and talking to them whenever they're near. They also enjoy interacting with her, Sam even saying he can't wait until she's old enough to play with them! How sweet! While we were playing downstairs, Ava decided to take a couple of steps on her own! Not really walking just yet, but she is definitley initiating the process! I think seeing the other kids at Denise's might be encouraging her, as she is literally the baby of the group.

After her evening milk and a quick brush of her teeth which she resisted quite a bit (this is unusual!), it was off to dream land. Tomorrow is a more relaxed day for me, as I don't have to drop Ava off or pick her up because Marc is home. Ava will still be going to Denise's for a part of the day because Marc and I want her to get used to going there before we keep her home when Marc's not at work.

Looking forward to a warm, spring weekend with my wonderful family...hopefully the weather cooperates!
