This morning I got off to a quick start. Ava woke up at 6:30 and as I got her bottle ready, Marc jumped in the shower so that while she was drinking her milk I could shower and he could get her dressed. It worked fairly well, and Marc even managed to make my lunch for me as I was running around trying to get ready for the day.
After packing up a lot of stuff (I don't even know what I packed but my hands were full!) I brought Ava to her sitter's by 7:45. I stayed with her until five after eight, trying to get her a little comfortable with the environment. She did ok as long as she was clutching my shirt. I put her in the high chair to eat breakfast, which she was eating fairly well between tears, so I decided now might be the time to try and slip out.
I headed off to work where I met some of the staff that make up my team, found my new office and met with my peer mentor for the better part of the morning. I also did some housekeeping things, and soon enough it was 16:30 and I headed out for home. It was really a nice surprise to be only 15-20 minutes away from home (depending on traffic). Marc picked up Ava as he was done early today so I was able to head straight home.
It was so great to hug my little girl after a long day without her! She had a pretty good rest of the day at the sitters, even going down for a little nap in the morning. She wanted Denise to hold her or be right beside her the whole day, but by the afternoon she seemed pretty comfortable. She fell asleep on Denise at 15:15 until just after 16:00, where Marc picked her up. This evening she seemed happy to be home with her maman and papa, and went down to bed without a fuss. I hope tomorrow she does a little better at Denise's. I know it will just take some time for her to adjust to the other little kids!
