Notre 'tite Fleur a un An!

After a bit of a rough night at around 2:00, (I guess Ava wanted an authentic experience in honour of last year!) Ava slept in until quarter to nine! Highly unusual for her to sleep that late, but maybe the walk from yesterday pooped her out! After I heard her whimpers, I went in to get my birthday girl ready for her big day!

I realize now, as a parent, that birthdays are not for the birthday person, but for the said person's parents! It was a day filled with memories for me. As the day progressed, I would remember what I was doing in the hospital at any given point! It was a very special day and I was glad that we all made it successfully through the first year!

After Ava had her morning bottle, we got ready and headed out to have breakfast at Chez Cora's. In honour of being one, we decided to order Ava her own breakfast off the kid's menu (a yummy waffle with fresh fruit) instead of picking off our plates. She seemed to enjoy her brekkie, and we headed home to play and relax before heading out again to take in the beautiful day (17 degrees Celcius!) and take some pictures. We were also graced by a visit from tante Joelle with a birthday gift for Ava - some adorable books about little goslings. Ava has enjoyed them all for the first time already!

After a decent nap (just over an hour), we ate lunch and headed out to take pictures along the swollen Red River. We spent close to an hour outside before heading back home to prepare for supper with Ava's grandparents. We asked the the three of them to join us to make Ava's birthday that much more special, sharing it with some of the very important people in her life. Unfortunately, we couldn't invite everyone! :>

After such a busy day, Ava was ready to pass out! She did so fairly quickly after a night time bottle, going down just after 2030. Tomorrow is her first "break-in" day at Madame Denise's (her sitter). I hope she sleeps well and doesn't freak out! :>

Here are some pictures we took today of the birthday girl.

Wish we could've been there to share her big day! Seems like you had a special day anyway and glad you liked the little dress. A little hopeful maybe but with some tights and a sweater she can probably get good use out of it. :)

It's hard to believe Cocotte is already 1! I know what you mean about the birthday - at least at this point - being for the parents. I still go through what I was doing on the day of Jacques' birth every March 20th! I must admit I've also been doing that every week of Mikka's life, too. I know, I'm such a nerd!

Love the pictures!

Good luck, Ava, at Madame Denise's today. I am sure you will have lots of fun. Good luck to you too, Angel. I totally know how you feel...It does get easier as you go forward, I promise!

Frere here. I am not no expert on no French but I'm pretty sure it's "a un an" and not "est un an." But then it's "est mort" and not "a mort" so what do I know...

All the same, happy birthday to Ava.

I'll check on the French grammar just for you, Frere!
