For the past couple of weeks I had been giving Ava little bits of food that she could theoretically pick up and eat on her own, like cheese and bits of baby cookies or bread. So far, she hadn't perfected her 'pincer" grip yet and while she could handle fairly large pieces, the smaller ones were beyond her capabilities.
Tonight at supper, after a long afternoon of waiting patiently while Marc and I chose tiles at the local home improvement store for our bathroom upstairs, Ava demostrated that she has been practicing! After trying to feed her from her spoon and not being very successful, I decided to just give her some little bits of the chicken and melted cheese mixture on the table and let her play with it. Well she certainly surprised us! She grabbed a little chunk with her forefinger and thumb and popped it right into her mouth! I immediately exclaimed "Bravo, Ava!" and she gave me a huge grin! I guess she just needed to do it in her own sweet time.
Here are some pictures from New Year's Day, and some of her opening Uncle Art's and Aunt Monique's gift! Thanks for sending Ava a gift!
I wonder if this tastes good? So far, so good!
....it's my first Baby Bible!!

Glad she likes it and that it finally got there! We wanted to give her something special.
