Today was a long day for my poor little brain!
After getting Ava packed and dressed for a baby-sitting date with Grandmaman and Grandpapa this morning, I had to get ready for a work interview.
I was quite nervous, because my brain hasn't really functioned at a "work level" for 27 weeks now and so I had to grind a lot of the rust off. I had to prepare a presentation and answer structured questions on which I would be scored.
This job is one I am really eager to be the successful candidate for because it is a Winnipeg position with my current employer. This means that I would not have to leave my little Ava at a babysitter's for 12 or 13 hours a day when both Marc and I work (dreaded thought). I am trying to convince myself that I didn't get the position so that when they call and tell me either way, I won't be too disappointed!
After the interview was over (it went so-so), Joelle and Jacques came to pick me up and give me a ride back home (they dropped me off, too!) We decided that we would join Grandmaman and Grandpapa and Ava at their house and go for a swim in the wading pool. It would be Ava's first visit to the pool, so I was pretty excited for the experience!
Ava did really well after she got used to the water! She seemed to really enjoy the movement of the water as I gently moved my hand back and forth to create a ripple. She smiled at her tante Joelle and cousin Jacques, and watched as cousin Calla splashed and laughed her way across the pool! Ava really enjoyed tante Joelle playing crocodile with her, but Jacques wasn't too impressed with the attention he was losing from his maman!
After the pool, we came back up to Grandmaman's "maison" and changed the little ones into drier clothes. Jacques and Ava both had a little snack, and then Joelle and Jacques had to be off (their meter had expired!) Ava went down for a nap, as did Calla and tante Michelle. Too bad Joelle didn't stay - we could have played a game of Canasta as Ava slept for over an hour and a half!
All in all, we had a great visit and we're looking forward to the next swim meet!

It was a lot of fun and for sure we'll have to plan for at least once a week dates!
I would have loved to stay for a game of Canasta, but Jacques wouldn't have had any fun being constrained to the dining room with no toys and the expectation to be quiet... ;) Maybe next time the living room will be free for him to roam...
That's true...although wouldn't it have been wonderful if he had taken a nap, too! :>
