Giving it a try...

So...here I sit, evening after evening, enjoying the blog posts made by my sister-in-law Joelle, and cousin Brigitte. I think to myself...dare I try it too?

In my school-aged years, I really enjoyed writing, both creatively and journalling, but it's been such a long time since I've done either one! Not sure if this blog will be creative or interesting in the least, but hopefully it will be something for me to document details and events that happen in our lives as we live and grow with our little darling, Ava.

Today was a good day over all. Ava woke up around 06:30 and after she ate, dozed off in her swing to let her mommy enjoy another hour and a half of sleep! I know that eventually, I will have to give up the swing entirely, but that extra bit of sleep is just too alluring to pack up the swing just yet! (Besides, Joelle and Kevin will need the swing for their new little bebe in just a few short months).

After Ava woke up from the swing nap, I fed her a yummy breakfast of cereal and applesauce. Then we packed up and drove over to the bowling alley to watch Alix and Samuel in their league. Ava did very well, entertaining Grandmaman by cuddling up close and occassionally reaching for her glasses!

Coming home from bowling, I knew my little madame was tired as she was falling asleep while nursing. I came downstairs and laid her down on the couch (Marc was still sleeping upstairs) to try and encourage her to take a much-needed nap. Up until this point, Ava has been extremely un-cooperative about taking naps on her own even though she goes to bed wonderfully on her own!

After about 15 minutes of minor fussing, Ava fell asleep, without being rocked!! I was very happy, as she also fell asleep the day before on the bed without being rocked or coddled. She slept for a good hour and a half, even though the doorbell rang and Earl was barking! Hopefully, we've turned a corner with the naps!

When Marc woke up, he decided it was one of the last days he would be able to fix a leak on the roof. Later this summer, during a heavy rainstorm, our second floor began leaking! We were very frustrated, as Marc and his dad spent the previous 8 months renovating the entire space! Anyway, Marc climbed up unto the roof with a bucket of tar sealant goop and a trowel. He discovered that the entire shingle had been ripped off the roof, exposing the decking and the insulation! He quickly gooped up the opening as a temporary fix until we can properly re-do the roof in the future.

We watched some football, ate some dinner and cuddled with our little girl before Marc had a nap before work tonight. It's really unfortunate with the way Marc's work schedule and Ava's sleep schedule cause them to completely miss each other! Luckily he was able to sqeeze in a few moments with her today.

Ava clearly let me know that she was ready for bed, and by 18:40 was nursing, and was in her crib and sleeping by 19:30! What a tired girl! Her sleeping, I was able to create this blog! Wish me luck!
