Last Saturday (June 13th) we celebrated Grandpapa's 65th birthday. The party was being held in our backyard, so along with praying for a rain-free day, we also had a lot to prepare!
The morning got started early with Ava being up around seven. Marc had done some house cleaning the day before while Ava was at Denise's, so most of the work to be done was outside and in the kitchen. Marc swept off the deck, trimmed the tree in our yard (even when I told him not to), cut the grass and set up all of the chairs and balloons. He dragged the boys out of bed at 9:30 to help, too. They did such a great job! They helped clean the yard and set up things, and Sammy helped me with some things in the kitchen after they had showers.
The party was set to start at 1300, so we made sure to have everything ready by that time, which was difficult with a little girl holding on to my legs! Joelle and Mikka came by around noon to help set things up, and Lisette came by a little after that too. Fortunately, everyone's praying about the weather was successful as we had beautiful blue skies and bright sunshine. Quite the difference from Grandpapa's 60th birthday which was held in huge downpour. We had to take refuge in Joelle and Kevin's house, of course!
The party was also successful. Grandpapa seemed to really enjoy seeing a lot of old friends and family members, and was seen chatting it up for most of the party. He was also surprised about the party, because he had no idea he was the guest of honour! It was a lot of fun to have the kids running around and playing while the adults relaxed and enjoyed the party too.
I will be sure to post the pictures we have a little later (as I'm at work right now and my camera is at home!)
