Birthday Party

Yesterday, after an unusually long morning nap, Ava and I headed out to Nicole's daughter's first birthday party. Ella is six weeks younger than Ava, so it is nice that she has a buddy so close in age. Ella has a big sister, Lily, who will be three in July and the three little girls are already proving to be friends.

Ava had fun at the party, but I think she was a little unsure of all of the people she didn't know in a place she wasn't familiar with. We left after all of the presents were opened because I forgot to bring a birthday card! Such a dope these days...

Today was a much quieter day. Ava slept in until 8:45 this morning which is not the norm, but I didn't mind too much! We were thinking about going to the Teddy Bear's Picnic at Assiniboine Park today, but I wasn't too confident about braving the crowds by myself (packing up Ava and all of her gear by myself, that is). The morning was looking pretty dreary, and while the afternoon was sunny, it was still quite cool. Needless to say, we stayed home, playing a bit outside and going for a walk to Safeway to pick up a few items we needed after a quick visit from Grandmaman and Grandpapa.

Tomorrow is back to work for me, and back to Denise's for Ava. She is really enjoying spending time there with Denise and the other little kids. In fact, Ava did not want to go home on Thursday because she wasn't done playing with the little playhouse outside! I will definitely have to keep my eyes open for some outdoor toys for her at garage sales so that she will have some things to keep her busy outside this summer.

To update on Ava's mobility - she is walking pretty much all the time in the house now, but she is not quite as confident outside yet! We're pretty impressed with her new skills!
