Marc holding Ava's lit baptismal candle.The day after Halloween is called All Saint's Day. It is also my brother's birthday (happy birthday!!), the day my sister Anita passed away in 2000, and now was also going to become the day of Ava's baptism.
We had been thinking about getting Ava baptised for a long time (since I was pregnant, actually!) but just couldn't decide where. We knew we wanted her to be dedicated to the Church, but we didn't know what would be the best way to go about getting it done. After Mikka's baptism, which was a really great ceremony, we knew that was what we wanted for Ava, too.
The baptism went well, even though Ava was so rambunctious that she didn't really want to have anything to do with the ceremony! After everything was said and done, she was baptised! :)
After the ceremony, most people came back to our house to have a little bit to eat and enjoy each other's company. It was a great evening and I enjoyed the whole day so much. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who was able to come, you all mean so much to Ava and to the rest of our family. Special thanks go out to Ava's Godparents, Russ and Kim. We really appreciate the fact that they would agree to take on such an important role in Ava's life.
