Tomorrow, Ava will be 28 months old. It seems incredible to think that she is almost 2 and a half already, which is that much closer to being 3! I know, I may be jumping the gun just a little bit here, but when I see how much more Ava can do from even one day to the next, I realize that being 3 is not so far away!
For example, Ava can clearly identify herself and anyone who is important to her. It's very funny because she identifies herself in the third person (very common for toddlers), and we just go along with identifying ourselves in the third person, too. I guess it's contagious! Third-person-itis! She tells others that I am "Maman a Ava", and that Marc is "Papa a Ava". Very cute! She also adores identifying Alix, Sam and her cousins in pictures.
Ava is also demonstrating her independence. She can partially undress herself to get ready for bed or a bath when we ask her to. She also insists on doing everything herself, or as she says it, "Ava a faire!" Sometimes we've already done the particular thing that she wanted to do herself, so we have to un-do it and let her re-do it. Something else that I've noticed is that she able to understand reasoning, and can most often agree to it. I know I'm pretty impressed by that! :)
Ava has developed a love of camping, the outdoors in general, music, dancing, and reading. She also enjoys playing with other children her age (mostly at her babysitter's, but our friend's children and her cousins, as well), and she adores babies! Her vocabulary is expanding every day, and it is so funny to hear her say something after she's told it! For example, she was sorting her hair clips and elastics today, and she pointed to a clip that looks like a flower and announces, "c'est cute!", something I had said about a clip of hers the day before! Such a little sponge!
So far, the past 28 months have felt like they've flown by, and we have been so blessed that she has been so healthy and vibrant!
